I believe you are familiar with the capacitor, which is the most basic electronic components, it is not only a wide variety of applications. What are the characteristics of electrochemical supercapacitors?

What is an electrochemical capacitor

Electrochemical capacitors are a new type of energy storage devices based on high specific surface area carbon, metal oxides and conductive polymers. Electrochemical capacitors are characterized by high capacitance and excellent instantaneous charge-discharge performance. In recent years, with the deepening understanding of the electrochemical capacitor, national and enterprise investment increasing research on electrochemical capacitors, a growing number of research institutes and universities into the ranks of the electrochemical capacitor research and research level also had great progress, but from the point of whole level, our country is still in the field of electrochemical capacitor research significantly lags behind the advanced level.

What are the characteristics of electrochemical supercapacitors

(1) High energy density. The energy density of electrochemical supercapacitors is 10 ~ 100 times larger than that of conventional capacitors, reaching 1 ~ 10 W·h/kg.

(2) High power density. The power density can reach about 2 kW/kg, which is more than 10 times of the battery, and it can release hundreds to thousands of amperes of current in a short time, which is very suitable for short time and high power output occasions.

(3) long service life. The electrochemical reaction in the process of charge and discharge has good reversibility, its theoretical cycle life is infinite, the actual cycle life can reach more than 100,000 times, 10 ~ 100 times higher than the battery.

(4) Wide temperature range. It can be used in the temperature range of -40 ℃ to +70℃, while ordinary batteries are -20 ℃ to +60℃. Most of the charge transfer occurs on the surface of the electrode active material, and the decay of all capacity with temperature is very small. The battery's capacity decays up to 70% at low temperatures.

Electrochemical supercapacitor is a new type of energy storage element. It has the characteristics of high energy density, wide operating temperature range and so on. The most important thing is that this kind of capacitor has a long service life.
